Ohio’s Report of the Study Commission on the Future of Gaming in Ohio was just released. In short. iLottery and iGaming will be hot topics in the next legislative session. Although there were balanced perspectives regarding caution to protect existing forms of gaming, it is likely that it will come in the next year on at least a limited offering trial basis with Ohio casinos. Will that trial basis occur through the lottery as other states have done to keep it a more closed-state system with less impact on problem gaming and to protect existing wagering from dilution? My prediction is that won’t occur. Why? Casino operators will argue the lottery or Racinos need a constitutional law change to offer casino gaming. Racinos conceded the point in testimony. Coupled with the fact that it appears throughout the report that the Lottery Commission expedited the current RFP process to renew existing lottery system contracts, which didn’t sit well with legislators. After attending the hearings and reading the reports it appears this was a sore spot because the Study Commission members wanted to ask questions about the existing vendor and systems, but could not by virtue of the non-disclose that accompanied the system renewal RFP process. With that dynamic it appears regulation is likely to fall under the Ohio Casino Control Commission, which has done an excellent job with all that they have been tasked with thus far in the state. In addition to the regulatory side they’ve put a first rate enforcement division in place that has done a great deal to combat illegal factions and gray area gaming in partnership with law enforcement. For Ohio horse racing. The Ohio State Racing Commission testified in person for more money, more regulatory oversight, and changes to the law to facilitate all. The Gaming Study Commission was sent follow-up commentary by the Racing Commission. They formally asked for more money to regulate, the ability to fine and suspend at the judge’s level above $1,000 to $10,000 per occurrence, and expand their jurisdiction to non-pari-mutuel fairs and fairground locations. #igaming #casino #ohio #gaming #casinogaming

In sports betting the punter always loses right? Well apparently not last Q - https://lnkd.in/eeB4v8Km This is interesting as they cite the reason why they had such a bad Q was the fact that so many heavy favourites in the NFL specifically won/beat the spread (punters bet big favourites most of the time) so the bookies consistently made a load of mistakes right? Or could this be a +200 IQ long term play? For a long time bookies have let punters win to get them addicted. Just like a dr*g dealer giving the first one for free they want you to get hooked on the high which comes with a win. Ever wondered why those bet365 boosts hit so often or why on the first day of a big horse racing event so many people cash? This is becuase they know that giving you wins will lead to customers betting more money more often. A perfect strategy would be to extend these winning periods as an addiction is less likely to form over a short period (especially after the inevitable loss) but a customer who wins most weeks for 1/2/3 months is almost certainly going to try and re-create that run. This is speculation, they of coarse may have just got their lines wrong but I'm seeing this behaviour more and more from sports books so I'll be keeping a close eye on their Q4. I've been amazed to have employees from bookies approach me (mostly senior managers) telling me that they would never do this/that they care about their customers 'blah blah blah.' I have had many conversations and meetings with their peers who were very candid about wanting the customer to get hooked, to lose big to the point that they seemd to despise their clientele. Others have confided similar things to me with feelings of shame and guilt from their time working within the customer service teams. Make no mistake about it, deliberate or not this strategy is being used and refined to some extent at the very least. If you are betting for the thrill of winning I would strongly suggest considering stopping completely because its even harder to make a profit when emotions are involved so heavily. #sports #gambling #onlinegaming #sportsbetting #marketing

Craps Field Bet Explained For the past several weeks I have been writing a series of articles about Casino games, and more specifically about certain bets. These articles are intended primarily for those who are novice players of Casino games, or perhaps casual players who have played the games before, but may not be as familiar with these bets, or how to make them, or what they mean, and why. Even though I have been writing for the gaming industry, and about Casino games for 40 years now, I am still very often asked to explain aspects of Casino games, and how to play them. Especially in recent times, with the popularity of Casino gaming worldwide, as well as online Casino gaming, including here in America. Many players are simply not familiar with these games, or these particular wagers, and I have also often heard that answers to these relatively simple questions are hard to find, even on Internet search. That's because there's so much information available, that it can easily lead to information overload. And, I have also been told, that many times these explanations are just too confusing, or too long. So, in this series of articles, of which this is the 2nd, I have tried to simplify answers to these questions in a way in which they can be understood, even by players who may be new to these games, or to these bets. While the digital channel dominates much of the conversation around gambling industry innovation, I believe there are still plenty of Big Ideas to explore on the retail casino side. I talked about one of my favorites during G2E: The Sports Resort, a new casino development paradigm that pairs the integrated casino resort model with sports entertainment. I've included the full presentation below, but in a nutshell, the story goes like this: - Vegas has proven that you can marry tier-one sports entertainment and casinos profitably and sustainably. - Sports Resorts are a compelling vehicle for bringing casinos into new jurisdictions in the U.S. (e.g., Texas) and abroad, much as the integrated resort model facilitated the opening of Macau and Singapore. - Sports stadium development is already moving toward the integrated resort model (i.e., full-spectrum entertainment districts activated 365 days a year). - We're entering a wave of redevelopment as many U.S. sports stadiums are nearing the end of their useful lives. - At the same time, opposition to public financing of stadiums appears to be accelerating, creating a funding void that can be filled by including a casino component. I expect this to be one of the defining industry topics in the years ahead for Vegas, the U.S., and perhaps the international market as well.

Just saw this in a tweet from David Purdum about DraftKings Inc. DraftKings announces it will begin charging a "gaming tax surcharge" in states with high tax rates and multiple operators in 2025. First reaction: Other operators will follow.Even a small surcharge will add money to the bottom line. If FanDuel follows suit,that would equate to 70% of the market. The approach of the other market aders,such as BetMGM,Caesars Sportsbook & Casino,Rush Street Interactive and Fanatics should be in contrast. This could be a major opportunity to gain market share. Think of the backlash that major fast food provider Wendy’s faced when they proposed to increase prices during slow periods. By not implementing the tax,a market shift could occur and drive each member of the aforementioned group profits up. I envision the operator that capitalizes on this opportunity to grow,could move anywhere from 2% or more from where they are presently. Check out today's Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, LLC covering smoking vs non-smoking policy insights across U.S. slot machine operators. Smoking sections outperform non-smoking sections by around 20%. But we find some interesting disparities that contribute to that difference. Cabinet age is non-smoking sections is significantly higher. We also find lower shares of premium product that are demonstrably in demand for non-smokers.
